It is a great pleasure to chair the combined 8th International Food Legume Research Conference and 5th Australian Pulse Conference in Perth, Western Australia scheduled for September 15 – 19, 2025 and promote the sharing of new knowledge across the legume value chain from pre-breeding research to pulses on the plate.
Both conferences aim to share such knowledge and advance legume research for the benefit of agriculture, human health, and the environment. The organising committee will be working hard over the next year to put together a compelling 4-day program, which will include three-day scientific program and a field day.
An important aim of the conference is to bring together researchers from around the globe to share the latest findings in applied and fundamental food legume research, showcase the latest findings in applied and fundamental food legume research, highlighting the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
Your participation in the combined conference will help make our goals a success, whilst bringing together a diverse group of legume enthusiasts who share a passion to create more opportunities for food legumes in the value chain addressing issues such as climate change, food security and the benefits of legume systems for environmental health.

4th International Legume Society Conference, which will be held between the 19th and 21st of september 2023
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Granada (Spain), to the 4th International Legume Society Conference, which will be held between the 19th and 22nd of september 2023. This International Conference, which follows our earlier conferences in Novi Sad (2013), Tróia (2016) and Poznań (2019), aims to stimulate knowledge exchange and interactions among researchers and stakeholders interested in promoting greater cultivation and use of grain and forage legumes, as a necessary path towards more sustainable food and feed systems and healthier diets.
The conference will cover a wide range of topics, organized in the following scientific sessions:
• Legume-based value chains: innovation and optimization
• Legume-based cropping systems: performance, ecosystem services and profitability
• Legumes for human and animal nutrition and health
• Legume biodiversity and genetic resource exploitation
• Genetics and omics-based legume crop improvement
• Legume breeding: challenges, tools, strategies and achievements
• Legume physiology, biochemistry and systems biology
• Beneficial legume plant-microbe interactions
• Understanding and enhancing legume crop tolerance to abiotic stresses
• Understanding and enhancing legume crop tolerance to biotic stresses

4th International Legume Society Conference

The 20th International Congress on Nitrogen Fixation will be held in Granada (Spain) from 3rd to 7th September, 2017. This meeting will cover a wide range of disciplines including evolution, ecology, genomics, biochemistry, physiology, crop production and engineering and novel uses of “Nitrogen fixation for Agriculture and the Environment”. It will comprise plenary talks by international experts as well as oral and poster presentations chosen from submitted abstracts. We will offer travel grants for young researchers to strongly encourage them to attend.We are looking forward to seeing you in Granada.

El pasado Diciembre, la Asociación Cultural Ciudades Comestibles: Huertos Escolares, con motivo del Año Internacional de las Legumbres organizó unas Jornadas para poner en valor lo que significan las legumbres tanto para el huerto escolar, como para la salud de toda la comunidad educativa en particular y los ciudadanos en general. Dichas Jornadas, se celebraron en el Centro de Mayores Adolfo Suárez sito en Travesía de Soria s/n de Alcorcón-Madrid.
